Matt Lauer ‘blamed’ for Ann Curry departure from Today

NBC are continuing to feel the heat after sacking Ann Curry as Today host.
Us Weekly magazine says a show source has told them of Lauer’s position in Curry leaving the programme after 14 years. Curry made her tearful announcement last week that she would be leaving with immediate effect to take up a new reporting role.
“Matt Lauer is 100 percent behind Ann leaving…the body language was extremely tense”. – A source speaking to the magazine
Thousands of viewers have voiced their anger online, vowing to stop watching the morning show after NBC’s treatment of Curry. Many noticed the ‘lack of emotion’ shown by Lauer when Curry was making her announcement.
Early data shows that ABC’s Good Morning America beat NBC’s Today programme on Friday, the first morning without Ann.
Savannah Guthrie will officially take up the role of co-anchor from 9 July.
One can appreciate Matt Lauer has a lot riding on the success of the Today show and he did what he needed to do to have it his way. Of course if the house comes down crashing and burning he will no where to look but the mirror. Little conciliation for the many of Today show fans who by now have forever sworn off Matt and his shady ways….
