Pick of the Plots: Tuesday January 23rd

SoapWorld takes a look at the latest goings on in River City, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: River City

Maggie is due to be discharged from hospital, but Ellie’s kind heart threatens to derail her recovery. Meanwhile, Alex struggles to support his family in the aftermath of Rick’s death, and Pete and AJ’s inner groomzillas are unleashed.

River City, Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One Scotland.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

Sonia fails to reason with Martin who isn’t letting Stacey see the children. Stacey persists in trying to get to her children but Bex tries to calm her down and assures her they are fine. They are interrupted however when one of the children ends up in a potentially dangerous situation leading Martin to see sense and reunite Stacey with the children. However, Martin soon turns on Stacey once again.

Phil gets a shock when Mel turns up at the Mitchell house. Phil threatens to go to Ciara but when Mel reveals what’s going on with her own son, the pair realise they must work together for the sake of their children. They identify Mick as a good starting point for their search.

Elsewhere, Tiffany sets Whitney and Halfway up on a date; Keegan loses control; Kush lets slip to Arshad about Masood’s job at the Vic.

EastEnders, Tuesday at 7.30pm on BBC One. Repeated at 10pm on UKTV channel ‘W’.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

Joe jogs through the woods and comes face-to-face with a man in a mask. The man approaches with a shotgun and Joe scrambles away, falling over a trip-wire. Joe manages to get up, but as he makes a run for it, he falls into a pit covered by some moss. Joe is petrified as the gunman leaves him to die.

Meanwhile, Robert’s excited when he notices Rebecca’s finger twitch. Nurses rush in as Lachlan watches, torn between hope and fear.

Elsewhere, Zak and Lisa decide to try and move back into their wrecked home.

Emmerdale, Tuesday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Oliver and Luke begin to bond again but later when he leaves, Luke tries to explain to Mandy but she wants nothing to do with him. Meanwhile, Nancy is heartbroken that Darren lied to her again and tells him their marriage is over.

Later, Darren finds Mandy in Nightingale’s and they talk about their failed relationships. It’s clear that there’s a spark and they end up kissing again, while Luke leaves a loving message on Mandy’s phone.

Elsewhere, Tom tells Darcy exactly what he thinks of her but she manages to work her way round Jack; Maggie is rushed to hospital.

Hollyoaks, Tuesday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

Al wonders if Daniel wants to swap shifts and do an evening? Daniel says he’d love to, but he has plans that he had nothing to do with. Emma opens the front door to find Zara and Daniel, but Zara starts talking in an American accent, they are here to stay in her room.

Soon, Emma manages to get into the swing of Zara’s role-play, but Daniel clearly wishes he could be anywhere else. Later, the pair are apologetic after an issue arises with the toilet and Daniel breaks the bed, they explain to Emma that they are there to ‘idiot proof’ the house for future guests.

Elsewhere, Rob and Heston attend the men’s group; Valerie tries to help a patient move on after the death of her sister.

Doctors, Tuesday at 1.45pm on BBC One.
