Scottish Football League Package Rangers Division 3 TV Rights
ATV Sport understands that the Scottish Football League are packaging TV Rights for 25 Division 3 games, involving Rangers, to tender.
While the SPL are in crisis talks with Sky and ESPN about the cost of their league rights without both old firm.
The Scottish Football League’s media representative IMG, has approached broadcasters with a package to show up to 25 live Rangers matches in Division Three next season. The proposed deal includes the opportunity to broadcast all 18 of Rangers’ away league matches.
However, any deal cannot be finalised until the Scottish FA grants membership to the new club. Rangers went into Administration in February, and in the process of Liquidation at the moment with Charles Green’s Consortium setting up a new company (Newco).
The SFA want Rangers word they can clear all footballing debts, plus take the punishment from their old company to have a twelve month transfer embargo.
The proposed SFL TV deal subject to certain criteria, including fixture and scheduling clashes as well as policing. The new league season less than three weeks away so all parties want something settled fairly quickly.
As the prospects for the SFL look good the Scottish Premier League have been in talks with Sky and ESPN for the past 48 hours about the cost of the rights for their league, with Rangers outside the top flight for a few seasons at least.
If Rangers can gain SFA membership, and I think that will happen, I can see the transfer embargo beeing lifted.
TV companies will always want to cover Rangers games because of their pulling power and I for one hope the whole of Scottish football can put this shameful and embarrassing chapter to bed and some progress can be made on and off the pitch.
SPL / SFA/ are devious and dishonest they are not in the process of evaluating RANGERS for life in division 3. They are all about self interest,they want to punish rangers discard them to the SFL but steal revenue generated by rangers to subsidise themselves .The great amount of ( integrity ) that they use as a reason for there castigation of rangers, is just pure manipulation for money . VINDICTIVE for self intersest should be there motto. Lifelong rangers fan but i would rather we dissapeared from football than to give into blackmail and greed. I am sure most of the spl clubs have hidden there sins, and i think for integrity reasons all clubs must be closely looked at.
Being a life long rangers fan I would rather the club packed in than bow to spl for the tv rights to be signed over to them so the very clubs that voted them out can benefit from the tv deal .Speak about integrity the spl and sfa and the rest of premier league have none
The hypocrisy of the SPL beggars belief. As much as it would break hearts to witness Rangers cease to exist I would support any decision to do so rather than accept any further sanctions from the SPL.
