Pick of the Plots: Friday October 19th

The latest goings on in Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: Corrie

An upbeat Daniel tells Ken he is enrolling on his Masters course with Sinead’s blessing, but later Sinead tearfully confides in Ken that she has just been diagnosed with cervical cancer. Keen not to spoil Daniel’s plans, Sinead implores Ken to keep quiet.

Meanwhile, Angie lies to Jude that she has a business meeting when in fact she is going for a date with a guy she met online. Later, Roy tells Jude he has been shortlisted for a Good Samaritan award. Angie suggests they celebrate at the Bistro where she apologises for going on the date behind his back. Jude is pleased that they seem to still have a spark.

Elsewhere, the police question Kevin about Michelle’s car and informs them that it was Abi who serviced the vehicle. Brian’s plans to take Cathy on holiday are thwarted. Peter gets Vicky a job at a rival company, and Gary suggests to Kevin that Jack should meet his old army mate who’s an amputee and trains with the paralympians.

SoapWeek: EastEnders

Kat and Jean are on the balcony from which Hayley is threatening to jump, Kat tries to coax Hayley away from the edge, but Hayley is adamant that if Kat knew the truth she would think differently. Jean takes over and after an emotional heart to heart manages to bring Hayley to safety. Back home, Hayley overhears some very harsh words from Kat.

Meanwhile, Martin is confused when Ross shows him a text from Ruby. At the Vic, Martin is reluctant to be in Ross’s company, but he listens to what he has to say. After Ross leaves, Stacey arrives with Ruby, who wants to buy Martin a thank you drink for his support.

Elsewhere, Louise takes Sharon out to cheer her up, but Sharon is distracted by Keanu’s presence. Sensing that Sharon is missing Phil, Louise urges her to go home and call him. Dot is reassured by Doctor Legg and she invites him to Robbie’s birthday party, as they reminisce about the Square, Doctor Legg drops a bombshell.

EastEnders, Friday at 8pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

Will Bernice finally build up the courage to end things with Daz?

Leyla talks to her fiancé Clive on the phone about when he is coming to the village.

Elsewhere, Rhona is on the warpath; Jacob relishes Maya’s attention.

SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Romeo decides to blackmail Harry into giving him some money (£3,000) by sending him anonymous letters about his and James affair. Convinced that James is behind it, Harry confronts him.

Meanwhile, the doctors decide to wake Dee Dee from her coma to see if the seizures have stopped. Diane and Tegan can’t stop bickering and are given a stern warning from Tony. Later, as they are waiting for Dee Dee to wake up the machines start to sound and the doctors rush in, telling them to prepare for the worst.

Elsewhere, Jack and Breda pretend to be a couple for Leela’s benefit but she knows they are lying.

Hollyoaks, Friday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

Heston and Ruhma are out shopping when he gets a thank you email from a patient, he tries not to rub it in as Ruhma is still blaming herself for what happened with Natalie. Heston has an idea to cheer her up – a hiking trip.

At the camping shop, Heston messes about with various outdoor paraphernalia, eventually coaxing a smile out of Ruhma. But then they hear an announcement – a call for ‘Mr Sands’. Noting that it’s the code for fire, a panicked Heston leaps into action…

Elsewhere, Karen nurses Rob through a bout of ‘man flu’.

Doctors, Friday at 1.45pm on BBC One.
