Hunter Owen is being ‘written out’ after bosses decided his story had been told.
Viewers recently saw Hunter – son of Mel and the late Steve Owen in the saga – shoot dead his villainous stepfather Ray during a comic-horror woodland showdown. As Mel set about covering up his crime in Friday night’s (4 January) episode, it was revealed that the troubled teenager was secretly holding onto the gun.
Digital Spy reports that the storyline is set to come to a head in the coming months and that the character of Hunter will depart at the end of it, although viewers will have to stay tuned to see how his exit will play out.
“We can confirm Charlie Winter is leaving and wish him all the best for the future. Hunter will be on our screens for a while yet and there is still a lot more drama to come as he and his mum are faced with the fallout of his actions.” – EastEnders insider via DS
The Daily Star note the character was axed in a decision ‘related to storylines, not his [Charlie’s] performance’.
Hunter first appeared in EastEnders in February 2018 and previously caused havoc when he ensured his taking of Louise Mitchell’s (Tilly Keeper) virginity was caught on camera to rile her father Phil (Steve McFadden), one time enemy of his dad Steve.
Winter – who was an acting newcomer prior to taking on the role of Hunter – has been releasing rap music on YouTube of late as ‘Chaz’.
