Pick of the Plots: Monday January 21st

The latest goings on in Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: Corrie

Amy bunks off school and attends a family planning clinic, explaining she’s pregnant and needs the abortion pill. But when the nurse insists she must discuss her situation with an adult first, Amy leaves upset. As Tracy gets a call from school to say Amy is missing, Amy texts Liz and asks to meet in the urban garden where she drops the bombshell that she’s pregnant and needs Liz to accompany her for an abortion. Liz nudges Amy into sharing her predicament with mum Tracy and dad Steve, with the latter kicking off and accusing Aadi of being responsible. Amy is mortified – now the whole school will be talking about her.

Meanwhile, Audrey explains that the dry rot is much worse than she thought, the floor has collapsed and she’ll have to move out. To David’s annoyance, Gail insists Audrey must move in with them, relegating Sarah and Gary to lilos. Aware of the pressure she’s putting on the family, Audrey tells Gary that if the price is right she’d like him to fix her dry rot. Later, Gary’s thrilled when Nicola arrives on the street to visit Eileen, however she reminds him that he’s behind with his maintenance payments.

Elsewhere, Sinead panics when Bertie’s ECG alarm goes off; Carla worries about Roy who she can’t locate him on the anniversary of Hayley’s death, but her fears are soon allayed; and Sally offers her help to Abi who has a job interview.

Coronation Street, Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

At the hospital, Hayley tries to convince the mental health nurse she’s fine, before giving her the slip and returnng home. Whilst Stacey secretly alerts Jean, Hayley steals money from Jean’s purse to buy a toy for Cherry. Jean tries her best to support Hayley, but she remains determined to stay out of hospital, despite it being apparent that that’s where she needs to be. Soon, it’s Kat’s turn to try to get through to Hayley but will she succeed?

Meanwhile, as Dot, Sonia and Stuart wait at Doctor Legg’s hospital bed, Stuart is asked to give a statement to the police. Later, Sonia is furious when Stuart arrives back at Dot’s and confronts him adamant he’s responsible.

Elsewhere, Mick is still feeling down and refuses to speak to Johnny on the phone, only for his day to go from bad to worse when football mum Megan to arrive, complaining that the team has folded. As the two find themselves at loggerheads, Mick quickly realises he is fighting a losing battle.

EastEnders, Monday at 8pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

With a resolve to confront Cain about his behaviour, Charity heads to the farm where she is shocked at the state of the place and him. Demanding answers Charity feels as though she is making progress until Cain kisses her, with Matty capturing his advances on camera. Protective Charity pushes Matty out, worried about how self-loathing Cain might react, and when Moira returns what will she say? At the same time, Faith comforts an upset Debbie but is floored when Debbie reveals Cain killed Joe.

Meanwhile, Diane ushers Bob out of the B&B. Although he manages to source some food, he doesn’t have enough money to pay for accommodation and settles down for a night in the Woolpack cellar.

Elsewhere, Jacob deletes Maya’s contact information and decides to try and make amends with Liv; Aaron and Robert’s plans for a quiet evening together are thwarted.

Emmerdale, Monday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Ste is furious at Sinead for going through Jonny’s wallet and tries to secretly return it. Later, Sinead tracks down Ste’s stepdad Terry.

Meanwhile, Goldie and Sylver organise a surprise party for Breda’s birthday. Simone is hurt when she hears that Leela got a love letter from Louis. Breda tells Simone to get over Louis, but Simone then overhears Breda warning Leela that Simone is not over him. A furious Simone finds out from the McQueen clan that Breda’s at the pig farm, so she goes to confront her.

Elsewhere, James is struggling to bond with Romeo. Harry still has feelings for James, so he helps him.

Hollyoaks, Monday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

Tensions remain high between Daniel and Zara, with Daniel putting Zara down at every opportunity and humiliating her in front of Valerie. Soon, Zara reaches her breaking point and dishes out some home truths to Daniel, pointing out that he isn’t exactly squeaky clean himself. Zara then presents Daniel with an unusual proposition and explains how she is the one person who can actually help him move on from all of this…

Meanwhile, although intrigued by the ongoing tension amongst the staff, Karen and Valerie are given something else to gossip about when Gordon turns up at The Mill to take Mrs Tembe out for lunch.

Elsewhere, Sid sees an elderly patient who is confused and can’t remember how she cut her hand.
