The latest production by Spike Lee for the streaming service is his fourth for the company.
From Academy Award Winner Spike Lee comes the latest collaboration with Netflix, Da 5 Bloods. This time the drama will tell the story of four African American vets who return to Vietnam.
Searching for the remains of their fallen squad leader – played by Chadwick Boseman – and the promise of buried treasure, the heroes battle forces of man and nature, while confronted by the lasting ravages of the immorality of the Vietnam War.
Spike Lee directs the production which has been written by Danny Bilson, Paul DeMeo, Matt Billingsly, Kevin Willmott and Spike Lee.
Netflix have this week revealed the on-screen talent includes Clarke Peters, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Norm Lewis, Mélanie Thierry and Jasper Pääkkönen who will join previously announced Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Paul Walter Hauser with Jean Reno and Chadwick Boseman.
Da 5 Bloods marks Netflix’s fourth collaboration with Lee. He previously wrote and directed She’s Gotta Have it, which is currently in post-production on it’s second season; and directed Roger Guenveur Smith’s one man show Rodney King for Netflix. Lee is also in post-production on the time-travel feature film See You Yesterday which he is producing for Netflix.
