ESPN

ESPNPlayer.com will deliver live and on demand coverage of the 2016 X Games Aspen in the UK and Europe as the world’s top winter sport athletes gather in Buttermilk Mountain, Aspen, Colorado for the 15th time.

The 20th edition of the winter games includes snowboard, ski and snowmobile events, with more than 200 competitors including several Olympians taking part.

The live action starts on ESPN Player on Thursday 28th January at 10:30pm GMT with coverage of the Snowmobile SnoCross Adaptive Final. The competition coverage continues on Friday 29th from 5pm GMT, with events such as the Snowmobile Freestyle Final, Snowboard Big Air Final and Women’ Snowboard Slopestyle Final. Every event will also be available on demand, allowing fans to watch the action at a time that suits them.

This year X Games Aspen also features highlights from the Halo World Championship Tour: X Games Aspen Invitational esports tournament for the first time. Eight of Europe’s best computer gaming teams will compete in an elimination competition for a $30,000 prize, with ESPN recently launching a dedicated esports section on ESPN.com.

The biggest names in winter sports are set to take part in the games – Sage Kotsenburg, Kelly Clark, Jamie Anderson, Joss Christensen, David Wise, Maddie Bowman and Dara Howell will all vie for X Games gold and prize money. This year British Olympic men’s skier James Woods will be hoping to add to the bronze he won in the Men’s Ski Slopestyle at X Games Aspen 2013, after narrowly missing out again in slopestyle despite skiing with an injured hip socket and finishing fifth in 2014.

ESPN and TV2, the leading commercial broadcaster in Norway, are bringing X Games Oslo to the Norwegian capitol next month, February 24-28th, 2016. This is the first time both summer and winter sports will be contested internationally at the same X Games event, with all the action available live and on demand on ESPN Player.
