Abbey Clancy has won Strictly Come Dancing 2013.
The model and professional partner Aljaž Skorjanec triumphed over actress Natalie Gumede and partner Artem Chigvintsev and BBC Breakfast presenter Susanna Reid and partner Kevin Clifton to take home the glitter ball trophy.
In the first of two live shows this evening the four finalists took to the dance floor to perform a routine chosen by the judges from their previous performances, before returning to the floor to perform their no rules, no-holds-barred show dance.
Abbey and Alijaz’s judges choice was The Waltz to Kissing You by Des’ree while their show dance was to Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N Roses.
Natalie and Artem performed the Cha Cha to Rasputin by Boney M for the judges while their show dance was to Steppin’ Out With My Baby by Christina Aguilera and Tony Bennett.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Brendan Cole had the judges choice of the Viennese Waltz to My Favourite Things by Julie Andrews while they performed to I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston for their show dance
Susanna and Kevin danced a Quickstep to Tommy Steele’s Good Morning for their judges choice while their show dance was to Your Song by Ewan MacGregor.
At the start of the live result show, the couple with the lowest number of votes, Sophie and Brendan, were eliminated from the competition.
The remaining three couples went on to perform their own favourite routine from the series.
Abbey chose the Quickstep to Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves, Natalie chose to perform the American Smooth to Jennifer Hudson’s And I’m Telling You, and Susanna performed the Paso Doble to Carmen’s Los Toreadors.
The BBC has revealed that a whopping six million votes were cast during tonight’s first ever all girl final.
After the result was announced, Clancy said:
I just can’t believe it, it’s just mad. My little girl will love this [trophy]. I’m so shocked.
Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One on Christmas Day when six new celebrities take to the dance floor in a one off special.
