The CW has picked up hit new drama The Flash, and comedy Jane the Virgin, for full seasons.
The full season pick up for The Flash is hardly surprising given its stellar ratings performance and critical buzz. The Arrow spin-off series, starring Grant Austin, premiered to nearly 5 million viewers giving The CW its best series premier since The Vampire Diaries in 2009. Ratings have held pretty steady for The Flash since that premier.
“We have had a fantastic start to our season this year, with The Flash launching as our most-watched series premiere ever, and Jane the Virgin recognized as the best new show this season by critics across the country. Over the past three seasons, we have made it our mission to grow and to broaden out our audience, and to keep raising the bar with the quality and impact of our new shows, and The Flash and Jane have both exceeded our expectations on all counts,” Mark Pedowitz, network president
The pick up for The Flash means the first season will run to the standard 22 episodes. The CW has also picked up new comedy series Jane The Virgin which is performing well in its Monday evening slot – a slot that has proved troublesome for some previous occupants.
Earlier today we reported that soap actor Roger Howarth had landed a role in The Flash.
