The award-winning comedy Friday Night Dinner has been given the green light for a fourth series by Channel 4. The broadcaster has commissioned a new series after the critically acclaimed comedy, created and written by Robert Popper.
Friday Night Dinner first aired in 2011 and has one Christmas special. It centres around Jackie (Tamsin Greig) and Martin Goodman (Paul Ritter) and their children Adam (Simon Bird) and Jonathan (Tom Rosenthal). Mark Heap also returns as the Goodman’s neighbour, Jim Bell.
In the new series Jonny gets serious with a ‘female’, Adam injures Jonny after buttering the kitchen floor, Mum is forced to pretend that her mother has died, Dad invites a friend over who talks with his eyes closed, ‘Horrible Grandma’ returns for more horribleness, and a terrified Jim has to look after five dogs.
“It’s always a joy to welcome back the wonderfully doolally world of Friday Night Dinner, and series 4 looks set to be a real corker.” – Channel 4’s Deputy Head Of Comedy, Nerys Evans
