Emmerdale has announced that Denise Black is reprising her role of Joanie Wright in the soap.
Having fallen on hard times the character will appear to seek financial help from Cain Dingle who is the biological father of her adopted grandson Kyle.
Joanie’s situation worsens when she becomes the victim of a mugging, losing Cain’s hand-out. Cain is furious when Joanie pops up again but other members of the Dingle family are more sympathetic to her circumstances.
“I am very excited to be coming back to Emmerdale. It’s a lovely show to work on and I’m well set for Joanie’s revival. I bet she has learned a thing or two since we last saw her. Is she still a single grandma? Has she changed? How is Kyle? I can’t wait to find out.” – Denise Black
Viewers last saw Joanie when Kyle’s mother, Amy Wyatt (Chelsea Halfpenny) tried to run away with him. Joanie reclaimed custody of Kyle and returned with the boy to her life in Leeds.
Joanie’s return will be screened from Wednesday 17th June.
