Bupsi Brown and Alien Uncovered have become the first two acts to leave The X Factor.

Bupsi lost her place on the show after coming bottom of the public vote, while Alien Uncovered went on to compete in this week’s sing-off with Kiera Weathers.

“It’s been great, I’ve had a really good time. I hope you guys enjoyed my Bupsi magic.” – Bupsi Brown

In the sing-off Alien Uncovered performed Sound of Blackness’ Pressure, while Kiera sang Everybody Hurts by R.E.M.

After both acts had performed the judges delivered their verdicts:

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (Alien Uncovered’s Mentor): “I don’t want to send anyone home but my loyalty and love and respect is with Alien Uncovered. I’m sorry, I’m going to send home Kiera.”

Rita Ora (Kiera’s Mentor): “It’s always hard this, like Cheryl I don’t want to send anyone home. It’s only the start for Kiera and there is so much she can do so I’m going to save Kiera.”

Nick Grimshaw: “Those performances really changed my opinion. Last night I loved Alien Uncovered and last night I wasn’t keen on Keira. I loved that Keira, so unfortunately I’m going to have to send Alien Uncovered home.”

Simon Cowell: “If we’re going to do a sing off, I’m going to have to judge it on the sing off, otherwise what’s the point of doing it? There is an obvious person, or artist, who was better tonight. Based on the sing off, even though I’m unhappy with the decision, I think it’s the right decision. The artist I’m going to send home is Alien Uncovered.”

“It’s been an amazing experience for us lot… you haven’t seen the last of Alien,” the group said in response to the result.

Ratings wise it was a huge disaster for The X Factor last night as BBC One rival Strictly Come Dancing drew an audience of 9.4 million, while the commercial offering managed to pull in 5.6 million (including the ITV+1 figures, BBC One has no such service) – almost four million less than its beeb rival. The ITV series was also a million viewers down on its figures from last weekend. The X Factor ratings dive has seen a fall of 2.5 million viewers from the edition which aired this time last year.

The X Factor continues next Saturday at 8.00pm on ITV.
