This weekend the remaining couples danced to impress the viewers at home, as well as the judges in the studio – Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood.

As reported yesterday afternoon Laura Whitmore was not able to perform on Saturday night, on doctor’s orders, after sustaining an ankle injury earlier in the week. As per the rules of Strictly Come Dancing she will have a bye through to next week.

The judges’ scores were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest scoring two couples facing the dance off. This week that was actress Lesley Joseph and professional partner Anton Du Beke and model Daisy Lowe and her partner Aljaž Škorjanec.

Both couples performed their routines again; Lesley and Anton danced their Tango to Whatever Lola Wants by Gotan Project and Daisy and Aljaž danced their Charleston to Happy Feet by Manhattan Rhythm Kings in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition. The judges debated with the outcome being Birds of a Feather star Lesley flying out of the television ballroom.

“Learning a new dance every week has just been lovely, working with him (Anton) has been an absolute joy and we’ve laughed a lot. And yeah it’s been just a lovely lovely lovely journey and it’s come to an end and that’s absolutely fine. We’ve loved it.” – Lesley Joseph

Sunday’s Results show also featured a performance from LeAnn Rimes singing her new song How To Kiss A Boy. Next week spiders, witches, broomsticks and ghosts return to the Strictly ballroom for the Fright Night Halloween special – the spookiest event in the Strictly Come Dancing calendar! The remaining ten couples will take to the dance floor once more next week when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 29th October at 6.45pm with the results show on Sunday 30th October at 7.15pm on BBC One.

Meanwhile the bookies have placed Danny Mac as the new odds on favourite to win Strictly at 10/11 with Ore Oduba his nearest challenger at 5/2, following last nights sterling performance.

“These two are really pulling away from the rest of the field, it looks like a two horse race to us,” – William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
