Pick of the Plots: Monday January 23rd

SoapWorld takes a look at the goings on in Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors this Monday.

SoapWeek: Corrie

Over lunch in the bistro, Michelle hits the bottle. Michelle doesn’t take well to Steve’s request for her to slow down and a public meltdown ensues which ends with her storming off on her own. Later, Robert finds Michelle and calls Steve to put his mind at rest. As a vulnerable Michelle leans in to kiss him, will Robert give in to his desires? Michelle tells Robert she’d like to visit Ruairi in the Chapel of Rest. As they set off, Robert lends a sympathetic ear as Michelle opens up about her problems.

Phelan sets about erasing all traces of his fight with Andy. Having loaded the incriminating evidence from the fight at the flat into his van, Phelan lies that Andy flooded the flat in an act of defiance before he left. Will everyone continue to be taken in by Phelan’s web of lies?

Elsewhere, Simon suffers an injury after his dad starts work at Street Cars and picks up him and Nick; Ken shocks his family when he reveals his intention to put a DNR order in place; Cathy seeks work at the kebab shop; and Shona confides her worries for Roy to Brian who comes up with a plan.

Coronation Street, Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV, UTV and STV.

SoapWeek: EastEnders

With rumours abound that the market is being moved, the stall holders take the matter up with Carmel who reluctantly admits that it’s in the early planning stages. Fuming, Martin strikes but not wanting to be out of pocket, the others don’t follow suit. After a row with Stacey, Martin returns to the Market but it’s not long before he’s at loggerheads with Carmel.

Jay and Billy head off to collect a body but find themselves stuck in traffic giving Billy time to talk to Jay about his living situation and love life. Despite Jay’s protests at being able to move on from what happened with Star, he is soon given food for thought by Billy.

Elsewhere, Kim throws Emerald out after overhearing her talking to Vincent about her; Tina pulls a sickie to spend the day with Sylvie and drags Shirley along on a day out; and Keegan continues to rile Bex and Louise.

As the residents carry on with their day, disaster hits Albert Square.

EastEnders, Monday at 8pm on BBC One. Repeated at 10pm on UKTV channel ‘W’.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

Gabby eases Laurel’s load by looking after Dotty, but she’s soon left in charge of Ashley too after his carer calls in sick. Laurel panics when she realises what’s happened and finds no one at home. Later, Laurel’s angry with Gabby, but when Gabby admits that she doesn’t want her father to go, Laurel’s anger subsides and she and Gabby embrace.

Robert clues Chas in on the wedding plans he and Aaron had made. Chas is upset to find out that DS Wise is reneging on their plan. Chas quizzes Pierce and when Paddy’s involvement dawns on her, she’s furious. Meanwhile, Aaron tells Robert he has a date for his hearing and Robert insists he’ll stand by him whatever happens.

Elsewhere, Rhona feels pressured to stay in with Pierce. Cain is alarmed when Debbie and her kids appear on a crime programme.

Emmerdale, Monday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.

SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Peri is annoyed when Tegan and Courtney invite themselves to the cabin though tells her mum that she’ll follow on later with everyone, allowing Leela and Cameron alone time. Leela is surprised to see Cameron at the cabin. He demands that she tell him who Daniel’s father is but Leela just begs him to forgive her like she forgave him for killing her mum and dad. Meanwhile, Tegan, Courtney and Peri arrive. Courtney throws Tegan’s phone to Peri but Peri doesn’t catch it and it falls into the lake. Tegan scrambles to get it and a piece of rope emerges leading to a dead body.

Warren advises Ste to curb his anger in dealings with Ryan but Ste is enraged when Ryan tells him that Leah and Lucas don’t want to see him. Later, Ste is delighted when Warren surprises him with an old van that he can use for his mobile tanning business.

Elsewhere, Nathan tries to make up with Lisa but she orders him to bin off third wheel Cleo. Nathan refuses so Lisa jumps in Mac’s camper van and they drive off together.

Hollyoaks, Monday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

Ayesha is excited to be moving in with Tyler today, but is also slightly worried about how she will fit all her stuff in his tiny flat. Valerie puts a little doubt in Ayesha’s mind as she reminisces about how well she and Ashley got on until the novelty wore off. Meanwhile we see Tyler meet with a worse for wear Bren, giving her cash and threatening her to stay away from Ayesha. That evening Tyler surprises Ayesha by taking her to a pretty house they liked but couldn’t afford.

He reveals he got the rent down and shows her inside where he has laid out the table for dinner with flowers. Ayesha is thrilled, not believing her luck. Meanwhile, Rosie arrives at the campus surgery, wanting to see Jimmi. As Jimmi is in court today she reluctantly agrees to see Heston. Rosie is struggling to sleep and grows angry that Heston won’t just prescribe her sleeping pills, he wants her to seek counselling to get to the cause of the problem. Rosie storms off but is later found emotional in the stairwell. Heston tries to get her to open up but Rosie claims she has spoken enough about her problems; she needs to sort herself out. Heston is left worried and so phones Jimmi who promises to check in with Rosie.
