The Family Chase will air as a Saturday tea-time spin-off from weekday quiz show The Chase.

The ‘brains’ on the regular series of The Chase

“Bringing four family members together to face the chaser brings a whole new dynamic to the most successful gameshow currently on TV. They know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, they’ve discussed a strategy beforehand but of course, that can all mean nothing when they go face-to-face against one of the UK’s finest quiz brains.” – Michael Kelpie, Managing Director at Potato

The six episode run will begin on ITV later this year, with each show featuring four family members trying to best the chaser for the opportunity to win a cash pot worth thousands.

The contestants will each answer a series of general knowledge questions in a bid to make it into the final chase, where they will then face the chaser once again for the chance to walk away with a cash prize.

The Chase, hosted by comedian and actor Bradley Walsh, launched on ITV in 2009 as one a of number of new formats to air in the 5pm weekday slot. There has already been spin-offs from the regular format with a celebrity version launching in 2011.

“The Family Chase compliments both the Daytime weekday and Celebrity primetime shows.  With even more fun and banter between Bradley, chasers and the families, it still delivers all the core values that has made The Chase a firm favourite with the viewers.” – Michael Kelpie, Managing Director at Potato

In addition to the new UK commission, The Chase is now made in over ten countries including Germany, Norway, the USA and Australia – where it is the country’s number one quiz show – and has been recommissioned seven times in five different countries over the past year.
