With Adam’s mum Jackie coming home from hospital today, Adam lets his nerves show to foster parents Karen and Rob. They do their best to reassure him, but he’s appalled to see his home kitted out with hoists and equipment, and Jackie unable to move unassisted. Karen and Rob try to jolly the family along, until eventually their affection starts to shine through. Laughing over childhood photos, the foster parents are relieved, though they feel a pang of regret as they realise Adam will be leaving them soon.

Ayesha’s shocked to learn her ex-boyfriend Tyler has transferred out of Letherbridge without a word to anyone. But when she turns to Emma for support, Emma’s too preoccupied with thoughts of Lena to listen. When Emma finally does make time for Ayesha, the angry nurse lashes out that Emma should sort out her own sordid affairs instead of relying on her every time things go wrong.

Doctors, Thursday at 1.45pm on BBC One.

SoapWeek: Corrie

There is an extra soapy treat this evening as we head, unusually for a Thursday, over to Weatherfield at 8.30pm. Sophie and Rosie make a start on their new window cleaning business to make some extra money to help dad Kevin. Sophie does the hard graft while Rosie holds the ladder and worries about her nails. Later our Sophie warns Rosie to stay well clear of Adam and the drugs. From his own back yard, Todd overhears this juicy conversation with disbelief.

Sarah muses to Gary that making videos with her mate Mel seems to be doing Bethany a lot of good. However things take a turn on the dark side when Bethany, Mel and Nathan are interrupted by the police who arrest Nathan on suspicion of the abduction of Annabel Adams. Bethany’s shocked. Bethany arrives home visibly shaken but does her best to cover. Appearing upset and shaken, Nathan approaches Bethany on the street and makes out he’s been wrongly accused of abduction. Nathan begs Bethany to lie to the police for him and provide him with an alibi. Will she agree?

When Leanne moans about the amount of texts she receives from Toyah and Eva, each trying to get back into her good books, Simon resolves to sort it out. Simon calls in the Rovers and orders Toyah and Eva to stop hounding Leanne with texts as it’s only causing her blood pressure to go up. The girls are chastened. When Leanne tells Nick and Simon that her sisters seem to have stopped texting her, it’s obvious she’s disappointed.
