Adam Rickitt is to guest star in Hollyoaks.

The actor and singer will play Nancy Osborne’s (Jessica Fox) ex-boyfriend, Kyle in the Channel 4 soap opera, its makers Lime Pictures have announced.

Kyle and Nancy have MS in common and bump into each other at a support meeting where their reminiscing leads to old feelings bubbling to the surface. Could Kyle’s arrival throw a spanner in the works for Nancy and Darren’s relationship or could he have other connections in the village that lead to more problems?

“I am really happy to be joining Hollyoaks. I’ve had a lot of friends work on the show throughout the years and they’ve all told me what an amazing place it is to work so it’s really good to be a part of such a welcoming crowd.” – Adam Rickitt

Adam rose to stardom playing Nick Tilsley in the Granada soap opera Coronation Street from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2002 to 2004. He also spent three years in New Zealand working on Grundy soap opera Shortland Street as Kieran Mitchell. Other successes include on stage as Mark Cohen in the musical Rent and in film with Emergency Exit as ‘Idol’, a pick of the Cannes Film Festival.

As well as a career in acting, Adam released his first single ‘I Breathe Again’ in 1999, which went straight into the UK charts at number 5 and appeared on ITV2’s Big Reunion in 2014.

“The key interest for me was in the storylines lined up for Kyle. I think they are amazing, taking the character on a real journey and something I am really enjoying playing a part in. Fingers crossed the audience like the surprises as they keep coming…”  – Adam Rickitt

Adam will first appear on screen next month Hollyoaks bosses note.
