Mrs Tembe tells Zara that she has taken her advice, and made a booking at a clinic today, and arranged a same day test, and then she would like to put this sordid matter behind her. JJ arrives late; his jokey mood is curbed by Mrs Tembe’s disapproval. They discuss how many sexual partners JJ has had, and the atmosphere is tense and snappy.

Alexia, the doctor, asks Mrs Tembe some questions relating to her sexual history which, eventually, Mrs Tembe has enough of and draws a line under it. After she has given a blood test, so does JJ. After what seems like an eternal wait, Mrs Tembe is called in for the results. She is told she does not have HIV, after an initially stoic response she soon breaks down in relief. JJ is also given the all clear but is advised on lifestyle changes. Back at the Mill, Mrs Tembe misinterprets some jovial interaction between Daniel and Zara as being at her expense and has a go at Zara, leaving Daniel baffled.

Elsewhere, Jimmi and Megan come to realise that their differing branches of medicine are not mutually exclusive.
