American daytime soap All My Children is to mark the death of actor James Mitchell, who died in January, this week as his character of Palmer Cortlandt is found to have passed away and friends and family gather to remember him. The actor died in January of this year but before his death he returned to the ABC soap to record some scenes for its 40th anniversary – however, Mitchell requested that once the scenes were filmed the cameras kept filming so he could produce some “ab libbed” material.

This week the soap will mark the actors death by revealing his character has also died. Friends and family will gather to mark the passing and the ab-libbed material filmed by Mitchell will be used. Actor James Mitchell joined the cast of All My Children in 1979 and retired 30 years later in 2009.
