BBC Rogue Traders’ co-presenter sacked following benefit fraud

Dan Penteado has been jailed for 12 weeks after admitting council tax and benefit fraud.

Penteado rose to fame when teaming up with Matt Allwright for BBC programme Rogue Traders, which tracks down dodgy workmen and exposes them through hidden camera stunts.

He was sentenced today at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court where he was told that his sentence would not be suspended and what he had committed was ‘calculated’.

The BBC issued a statement shortly after announcing that Dan would not be returning to the show, which now features in segments during Watchdog.
