Presenter Andrew Castle is to leave soon-to-be-renamed GMTV, after a decade on the sofa, the ITV breakfast station confirmed late this afternoon.

 

 

Andrew, one of the leading faces of GMTV, is to depart the magazine show in September when the programme is axed to make way for a new-look daytime format.

 

The presenter and former British Number 1 tennis player announced his planned departure from the ITV breakfast programme today saying “I have had a fantastic 10 years fronting one of the UK’s most watched television programmes, but with all the changes taking place at GMTV I felt it was time for a new chapter in my life as well,” said Andrew.

 

“I enjoyed both meeting and working with some very talented people at the programme and I wish all those at GMTV every success in the future.”

 

Castle will continue to present for the BBC Sport department including as lead commentator for Wimbledon and the AEGON Championships. Andrew recently hosted daytime game show Divided for ITV, it is unclear whether this programme will continue with a new series as yet.

And now he has decided to move on, I wish him good luck and best wishes with all the new projects that he will be taking on.”
