CNN has suspended Fareed Zakaria after admitting plagiarising for a Time magazine article.

Time magazine have also suspended him after concerns were raised over an article about gun control. When blogs and websites picked up on similarities between his article and one posted in The New Yorker by Jill Lepore back in April, Zakaria issued a statement.

“They are right. I made a terrible mistake. It is a serious lapse and one that is entirely my fault. I apologize unreservedly to her, to my editors at Time, and to my readers.” – Fareed Zakaria

As well as a popular columnist in Time magazine, he also hosts Fareed Zakaria GPS on CNN and CNN International, a global issue-led news programme. It is not known how long his suspension will last.
