DALLAS: New Opening Titles
After twenty years prime-time soap opera Dallas has returned to television for a brand new season which, of course, means a brand new set of opening titles. So what does the 21st century Dallas look like?
Well for the most part the opening titles are in-keeping with the originals which are so iconic now. The titles features shot of the city of Dallas itself and Southfork ranch with the finale shot being the sweeping shot towards the ranch house – as the original used to end with.
The theme tune is a slightly different arrangement and has obviously been given a 21st century make-over but it is still instantly recognisable as Dallas.
However, while the cast members are credited in the titles they do not appear in them – a crying shame. It makes the titles look a little bland with just cast names appearing over shots of Dallas – its crying out for Sue Ellen’s pouting and J.R’s devious smile and topless action though perhaps not from Bobby this time around.
Original cast members Linda Gray, Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy are credited last almost as though they are after-thoughts. They should either be credited first or the show would revert back to crediting by alphabetical order – as in the good old days!
But the main thing is they kept the style of the original and at least the new Dallas has opening titles – not all shows these days do.
So what do you think of the new opening titles and theme? Post your feedback below.

I love Dallas. CH5 have treated it disgracefully yet pour money into way past it Neighbours! Odd channel!
