Dan Lobb to leave Daybreak
Daybreak presenter Dan Lobb is to leave the morning programme later this year.

Dan was part of the original Daybreak team when the programme replaced GMTV in 2010. He joined as sports editor but went on to become the main presenter alongside Kate Garraway. They were named as interim presenters following the departure of Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley.
He took to Twitter yesterday to confirm he is leaving later this year.
Want to clear this up – it was my decision to leave Daybreak & it happened some time ago. Won’t actually be going til later in the year. – @danlobb
His announcement came as ITV announced that Aled Jones will be joining breakfast veteran Lorraine Kelly as the new presenters of Daybreak. Lorraine will continue to front her self-titled show at 8.30am.
ATV Today understands that Kate will remain with the programme and is seen as ‘an important part of the show moving forward.’

Why move Kate Garraway ,I think she’s really great and as for Aled Jones I’m not really sure that he’s breakfast television!!!!!!
i think aled jones will be great on daybreak. he can be serious when required, but also has a great sense of humour. love him on escape to the country.
Don’t get rid of Dan, he’s what makes mornings worth getting up for! Aled Jones please……… Big mistake.

I love waking up to Dan and Kate in the mornings.

I love Dan’s sense of humour and the chemistry between him and Kate is great .I only watch it for the laughs at 6.30am as I am drinking my coffee .Nothing against Aled but he is better off staying at Songs of Praise .
I think Dan Lobb is good presenter and it’s ashame he’s decided to quit Daybreak. But I have to be brutally honest I just found Kate and Dan nauseating to watch together. At first I liked their chemistry, but over recent months they’ve made ITV’s in the morning unbearable to watch so I switched to the BBC.
I think Kate’s a good presenter but she constantly interupts her guests, laugh’s out loud at thing’s that are not even remotely funny and alway’s dominates interviews. She makes Dan look inexperienced and way out of his depth. On the other hand, when Dan presents with Helen Fospero there partnership is so much better.
Even Kate presents so much better with John Stapleton. It would be great if Kate presented alongside John, and Dan alongside Helen. It would make Daybreak less nauseating to watch.
I’m not too sure with Aled Jones a bizzare choice, but Lorraine Kelly is a breakfast favourite and makes complete sense.
I would love Penny Smith to come back and present with John again. They had such as warm and strong chemistry. They use to make my mornings with their banter.
I do not agree with neil about Kate . I think Dan was what I call dithery and I think Kate had to be the way she was to help him out. I think Kate Garraway is great and she will be missed as the main presenter. Watching Lorraine from 7.am until 9.20am is a bit much for me and I will be finding an alternative.
Totally agree with Neil. Kate has become incredibly patronising, talking to the viewers as if we were all 10 year olds. Dan has been going the same way as he has been learning from her. From time to time you get to see a glimmer of Dan’s real personality coming through which is great but short lived as Kate’s dominating presence brings him back to her level. Let’s hope this isn’t the end of Dan’s tv career as he deserves more.
Looking forward to the new line up. Fingers crossed it brings me and others back from the BBC but that my take more than just the line up!
What is wrong with the producers of Daybreak perhaps its time they were replaced. Dan Lobb will be missed but to replace him with Aled Jones ugh – time to switch to BBC
Thats the BBC for me not sure about Aled and don’t like Lorraine. Best combination was John and penny. Gone seriously downhill since they left/were moved out.

It will be an awful shsme to see Dan leave the show. I wish him all the besr in his future career and hope he finds proper empoyment and does feel the need to join things like, what I call Celebrity has been shows.
It was a breath of fresh air when the two previous presenters went. I would love to see John Stapleton and Penny Smith back doing at least two days a week. Penny is great, down to earth but also knowledgeable.

Whoops, here we go again, who will be helping Kate out when she is required to ‘interim’ now Dan is leaving. Perhaps there will be so few viewers, ITV bosses will realise they have messed up & pay off the produces the same has dreadful Bleakey & Chiles. See yer later, off to watch BBC morning news.

i think it is the worst thing ever dan and kate are by far better than aled and lorraine bbc here i come , yet again itv will being makeing a big mistake , if its not broke why fix it

Dan and Kate are great together, why change what works. Sad Dan is leaving, Kate is brilliant.
Its about time, not keen on Dan, he’s a bit vacant and punching above his weight with the presenting role. Kate is loud and interrupts everyone. Her time at the Oscars, last year interviewing the celebs going to the after shows, was like car crash TV, so why she stays and he goes I don’t know, there is not much between them really, not professional together, I’m afraid. The comment that she is better with John and he with Helen is almost palatable. Best combination John and Penny, huge mistake to let them go. I won’t be watching Lorraine, she is dreadful when she is interviewing, all those, “really, really’s” and those “your beautiful and gorgeous”, “we love you” its too false and now they are putting her on from 6am!!!!!!!!. Thank goodness for Bill and Susanna on the other side. To coin a well known phrase, Daybreak – “I’m out”

So sorry to see Dan leaving, he really brightens my day and Kate is brilliant. Can’t believe DAYB REAK is having another change around. I won’t be watching Lorraine and Aled, what a mismatch. Aled is better sticking with his religous programmes. This partnership wont last long, how many more changed can DAYBREAK have before it finally collapses.
Sorry Dan is going. Joy to watch in the mornings. Serious mistake by the producers to let him go. Hope BBC snaps him up to boost their ratings even more. I’ll certainly be watching him if he does. Daybreak is lurching from one crisis to the next. Who are they going to bring in next? Pudsey the performing dog? Maybe the production team should be replaced instead!

I agree with Neil. Dan is a good presenter and I am sorry he is leaving. Kate was domineering. Dan and Helen Fospero are great together. I will be watching BBC as I always do but I liked to watch ITV when Dan was on but not with Kate. Perhaps BBC will snap Dan up–hope so.

Crazy to push Kate aside again and bringing in Aled – well, he’s nice enough but not for breakfast tv! Bring back Penny and Andrew. John is good too. Kate and Dan have done a brilliant job since taking over. I think that the main turn off of Daybreak is due to the callous way that their presenters are moved on and over. I will be turning over/off again.
Another HUUUGE mistake by whoever decides these things at Daybreak…..leave Kate where she is, and if Dan wants to go….(wish he didnt) then bring in Gethin Jones……its a win win !

Keep Dan He’s brill, Get rid of Kate. I’m sick of her asking a question and then never giving the person time to answe. Also I hate the way she wiggles her head she looks like a puppet. She grinds me with voice. basically i cant stand her. Daybreak will be better without her.
Richard Arnold was best when he worked at Inside Soap, least we didn’t have to hear or see the mincing old queen.

Can’t believe Dan is going. I agree with Alison in that he makes morning worth getting up for. Why do they keep changing formats that work?!!! I thought Christine did a good job and they got rid of her. Aled Jones? Really? Not sure. Might have to turn over to BBC breakfast now.
Dan and Kate are a great team its a shame Dan is going but more of Lorraine Kelly no way its too much we always switch off when her show starts so looks like BBC viewing figures will be going up as IT V shoot there selves in the foot once again remember if it an’t broke don’t try to fix it, but I guess its someone who is well over paid trying to prove there worth big mistake.

Lorraine i assume records her morning show for friday because she has to go home will she record fro daybreak or some other presenter will fill in fro her has they do for her morning show
