Gary Barlow has topped the UK singles and album chart with his diamond jubilee work.

The official diamond jubilee song, ‘Sing’, which was co-written by Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber sold 142,000 copies this week and shot up the chart to No.1. The song features a selection of performers from the Commonwealth countries and was performed at the Buckingham Palace concert, in front of the Queen, last Monday.

“It’s been such a great week, it would take something very special to top it. I’d like to say thanks on behalf of about 200 people as we’ve got a massive cast on this record. I love collaborating with other artists and being able to put them all on one stage the other night was such an honour for me. It’s something I’ll never forget.” – Gary Barlow speaking to Official Charts Company.

Gary Barlow & The Commonwealth Band also took the No1. slot in the album chart this week.
