Irish actor Colin O’Donoghue will play pirate Captain Hook in the second season of Once Upon A Time.

The cast of Once Upon A Time is expanding once more with news of another addition for its forthcoming second series. The newest addition to the cast of ABC’s fantasy drama will be Colin O’Donoghue as the villain Captain Hook from the Peter Pan tales – though no casting news on who will play Pan himself yet. Colin O’Donoghue appeared in Irish soap Fair City and has had roles in Proof, The Tudors and The Clinic.

Producers of Once Upon A Time previously revealed they were seeking to introduce the character of Hook during the second series along with several other fairy-tale characters which have also (mostly) been cast now. For example The Tudors actress Sarah Bolger is set to play Princess Aurora while Julian Morris has been cast as Prince Phillip; both characters are from the Sleeping Beauty tales which makes it likely Kristin Bauer will return (at some point) as the villain of the piece – Maleficent.

Earlier today we reported on the news that former True Blood actor Michael Raymond-James will join the cast of Once Upon A Time playing a mysterious new character.
