Olympian Chris Mears happy to have a gay following
Diver Chris Mears has told how he’s become mates with fellow diver Tom Daley’s gay friends.
Daley has been mocked on Twitter for his ‘camp’ presenting of ITV flop celebrity series Splash! however was reported to be dating The Only Way Is Essex personality Lauren Pope.
“I have no issues at all being around gay people” said Mears, adding “I know a few people through Tom who are gay and I’m good friends with them.”
The 19-year-old told ‘Gay Times’ Magazine that he’s also increased his following of gay men in social media, and they make some interesting suggestions.
“I’ve got quite a few gay followers of my own through Twitter. I went from 1,000 before the Olympics to 110,000 after it. And I’ve had a couple of funny suggestions, normally guys asking for foursomes with me, Tom and Jack Laugher.”
Straight and dating, Mears appears in the latest issue of Gay Times as part of their Naked Issue which is in aid of Terrence Higgins Trust. The issue goes on sale from January the 23rd.
“I’m trying to steal his gay fan base by doing this shoot for GT!”, Mears concludes, tounge-in-cheek.
