Mark Chapman to replace Colin Murray next season on MOTD2

BBC Sport logoMark Chapman will replace Colin Murray as BBC Match of the Day 2 presenter from August 2013.

Chapman has presented sports programming on BBC TV and Radio 5 live as well as ESPN. Ex BBC Radio 1, Murray, has presented MOTD2 since Adrian Chiles defected to ITV in April 2010.

A BBC Statement said:  “We’d like to thank Colin for his great contribution to Match of the Day 2, We look forward to him continuing on the show until the end of the current football season. He will continue to play a key role in BBC output, especially as a regular presenter on 5 live and across TV output for darts and American football.”

Murray presents programmes on 5 live and did the recent BBC TV coverage of the BDO Darts World Championships also. Rumors are ciruclating he could present the BBC’s snooker coverage, along with Hazel Irvine after the depature of Rishi Persard to Channel 4 Racing.

Match of the Day 2 launched on Sunday evening’s as the ‘sister’ show to the Saturday programme in 2004, when the BBC’s Premier League football highlights rights returned. The show in recent years has moved from BBC Two to BBC One.
