Andrew SistersThe music of The Andrews Sisters, along with Vera Lynn, became the soundtrack of the Second World War – defiant in the face of evil. Yesterday the last member of the threesome, Patty, died aged 94.

Reports state that the former girl group singer died from natural causes at her home in Los Angeles.

A forces pinup along with her sisters LaVerne and Maxene they were equally as famous for their dance moves while performing hit songs such as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy while touring to entertain American and British troupes across bases around the globe.

The girls performed between 1936 and 1967. LaVerne was the first to die, after a battle with cancer in 1967 while Maxene died in 1995.

In 1978 the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show paid tribute to The Andrews Sisters when in drag, Eric Morecambe, Ernie Wise and guest Leonard Rossiter provided the dance moves to the sound of Patty, LaVerne and Maxene performing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
