Michelle Forbes has landed a recurring role in the second season of NBC’s fire-fighter drama Chicago Fire.
TV Line reports the actress will play a high-ranking consultant with the State Fire Marshall’s office.
The character, Gail McLeod, will be in charge of monitoring the station’s budget and performance.
Chicago Fire proved to be something of a surprise hit for NBC during its first season; after a slow start the drama took off with viewers. The series stars former Neighbours and House actor Jesse Spencer and Vampire Diaries actor Taylor Kinney.
Law & Order creator Dick Wolf produces the drama so perhaps its unsurprising NBC is already looking to turn Chicago Fire into a powerhouse franchise; it has already commissioned a police based spin-off titled Chicago P.D.
Michelle Forbes has a long list of credits to her name with her most recent role of note being in AMC’s version of The Killing. Forbes other credits include roles in True Blood, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Durham County, In Treatment, Prison Break and Battlestar Galactica. The actress has also appeared in British dramas such as Waking the Dead and Messiah.
