The popular drama, created by Sally Wainwright, will return in 2014 for a new run of episodes. Producers Red Production Company hinted in June of this year that ITV were on the verge of renewing the drama.

“We’re thrilled to be producing a new series of Scott and Bailey. It’s rewarding to think the public have become so familiar with the characters and taken them to heart. With this new series, we have the chance to explore great story ideas and continue developing those characters.” – Nicola Shindler, Red Production Company

Scott and Bailey is one of ITV’s most popular dramas with its audience regularly around the 7 million mark. Production on the new episodes will begin in Spring 2014.

Actress Suranne Jones was recently cast in BBC One’s forthcoming drama The Ark which is set during the First World War.
