International artists such as Bobby Womack, Emeli Sandé and Manic Street Preachers will join the best of Ireland’s musical talent, including The Script and James Vincent McMorrow, to celebrate the life and legacy of Arthur Guinness later this week.
Ireland, which celebrates Arthur’s Day for the 5th consecutive year, will for the first time ever be spreading beyond music to support, promote and showcase Ireland’s innovators, artists, poets, writers and culinary experts, at over 500 free music and creative showcase events.
We can’t wait for Arthur’s Day. We are particularly delighted to see that emerging Irish artists will have such a fantastic opportunity to perform alongside some of the more established names on the line up. Having such a huge stage to perform on will undoubtedly be of benefit to the incredibly talented, up and coming artists and we’re really looking forward to sharing the stage with them. – The Script
As always Arthur’s Day will be a night full of surprises with acts turning up unannounced to perform in pubs. Additionally, some acts will also perform at one of five ticketed music events, taking place in pubs across Dublin, Belfast, Limerick and Cork. The line up for 2013 includes: The Script, James Vincent McMorrow, The Original Rudeboys, Girl Band, Bouts, Le Galaxie, Ham Sandwich, Daley, Manic Street Preachers, Emeli Sandé, Janelle Monáe, Biffy Clyro, Kodaline, Iggy Azalea and the legendary Bobby Womack.
I am a first timer to Arthur’s Day but I’ve heard that it’s a unique music experience for fans and that’s what I love – playing in intimate venues where you can really connect with people. Bring it on! – Bobby Womack
In total there will be over 500 free music events and more than 1000 music acts and creative showcase events, each taking place in local pubs across 32 counties in Ireland. The night will feature a range of emerging Irish artists, rising stars and international acts surprising local pubs across the country.
