Throughout February and March the BFI Southbank centre in London is to celebrate the career of actor Al Pacino.
Starring in some of the most memorable movie roles of all time, Pacino’s career has spanned from classics as The Godfather Trilogy, Scarface and Serpico to Sea of Love, Scent of a Woman and Insomnia.
The recipient of countless awards, including an Oscar, five Golden Globes, two Emmys, a BAFTA and two Tonys, Pacino’s acting talents can’t be disputed. He has also forged a successful career behind the camera, taking on directing duties for Looking for Richard, Chinese Coffee, Wilde Salomé and last years Salomé.
From a career that has to date produced over 40 film roles, the BFI Southbank season will screen twenty of his greatest films, with the centrepiece of the season being an extended run of a 4K restoration of Francis Ford Coppola’s masterly The Godfather Part II – which returns to cinemas in a nationwide release from February 21st.
