Record entries for National Sheepdog Trials 2014

Pennywell Farm has seen a record number of entries to their National Sheepdog Trials 2014.

This years National Sheepdog Trials at award-winning family attraction Pennywell Farm has had more entries than ever before.

54 of the best sheep-dogs from around the UK have been entered into the popular mid-week event, many of which are past competitors in the British team. Well known handlers such as Ray Edwards, John Carter and Richard Smith will be coming from Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Gloucester and Oxford to compete for a place in the National Sheepdog Finals.

The annual event, held this year on Wednesday 6th August is organised by the Devon and Exmoor Sheepdog Society and hosted at Pennywell Farm, Buckfastleigh.

Chris Murray, owner of Pennywell Farm, expressed his excitement about the record number of entrants and the growing interest in the upcoming event: ‘I’m delighted with the number of entries, I always look forward to the sheepdog trials and know this event is becoming increasingly popular. The trials are a chance for them to show the sheer passion and hard work they put into the competition, I can’t wait to see what this year brings.’

Viewers will have a full view as the sheepdogs compete. The action begins at 9am with trials to test the dogs’ natural instincts to keep out of the sheeps’ sight.

Admission to the trials is included in the Pennywell admission price (£12.95 for adults or £9.95 for children); Children under 3 have free admission.
