Thunderbirds (ITV DVD)

While Network DVD release most of the classic ATV programming, Thunderbirds has been released by ITVDVD, a division of ITV Studios Global Entertainment (formerly ITC and Granada International.) Relive the most famous of Gerry Anderson’s puppet productions.

Storyline

Join the Tracey family, residing on Tracey Island, as they battle the everything from terrorists to natural disasters with their involvement in ‘International Rescue’ who are called upon when the usual bodies are unable to cope with a over the top crisis.

International Rescue isn’t entirely the domain of the Tracey family, there is also the glamorous toff Lady Penelope – with her famous pink Rolls Royce, driven by loyal chauffeur Parker – who undertakes secret missions, such as spying for the worthy cause.

ITV DVD has re-mastered this 1964 classic so the sound and pictures look better than ever. The box set contains all 32 episodes as well as a number of exciting extras.

Special Features

The Thunderbirds Companion is a ITVDVD produced Compilation Show which has all the best bits from the episodes as well as a narration to the background of the show via behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the show as well as interviews with Gerry Anderson and a number of other cast and crew from the series.

There are also original television commercials for Thunderbirds included as well as several other features including a chance to see the original artwork for the show and a memorabilia section.

This Thunderbirds release is an ITVDVD production. Network DVD however have released other Gerry Anderson ATV series including Space 1999 and Fireball XL5.
