PREVIEW: The Carrie Diaries

The-CW-Green-LogoThe Carrie Diaries, the prequel to the hugely popular HBO drama Sex and the City, launches on Monday on The CW.

The prequel stars AnnaSophia Robb as a young Carrie Bradshaw, a role played by Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City. The Carrie Diaries follows the ups and downs of Carrie’s younger years and is from Gossip Girl producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Also starring in the drama is Doctor Who and Law & Order UK actress Freema Agyeman as well as Chloe Bridges, Katie Findlay, Austin Butler and Ellen Wong.

For those wondering how the stars of Sex and the City feel about the new prequel actress AnnaSophia Robb recently revealed she had received a letter of support from Sarah Jessica Parker. In an interview with USA Today the actress revealed “She [Sarah Jessica Parker] sent me a really encouraging, very sweet letter that made me feel really good.She was congratulating me and telling me how much the role of Carrie Bradshaw meant to her and how it changed her life, that she was so excited for me and knew it was in good hands. It was a huge compliment for me.”

In the same interview Robb was keen to stress that The Carrie Diaries will establish its own identity. “We have similar flavors and similar characters, but this is very different. It’s a different era and it’s for a younger audience, but hopefully fans of Sex and the City will love it too.”

The Carrie Diaries, starts Monday 14th January on The CW
