Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has teased fans of the show with a few details about the forthcoming new companion played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.
Though the new companion’s name has yet to be officially revealed or confirmed recent leaked call-sheets state her name is Clara – though that may very well be ruse to prevent her real name becoming public before the production team is ready. We do know however, that the new companion will be introduced in this year’s Christmas Special and will be played by former Emmerdale actress Jenna-Louise Coleman.
During an interview with BBC Radio 5 showrunner Steven Moffat has teased Doctor Who fans with a few more details about the new companion – and they really are just teasers! There’s no big reveal her regarding “Clara” but then we wouldn’t expect there to be – Moffat is not a fan of spoilers and would prefer audiences tune in to find out such details.
However, the details as reported by Blastr are, as follows; the new companion will be human and from contemporary Earth following the standard for the new series of Doctor Who. Each regular companion from Rose (Billie Piper) through to Amy (Karen Gillan) has been human and from the present day – ignoring one-off companions for special episodes that is. The new companion will not have any connections to existing characters – so a clean break. The Doctor has “never quite met anyone like her before” and her journey with him will be “shocking and intriguing”. Also “Her very presence in the TARDIS will change the Doctor and there’s something different about her that will have a knock-on effect for the Doctor/companion dynamic”
Yesterday it was claimed that amongst the first monsters “Clara” and the Doctor (Matt Smith) will battle will be the Ice Warriors – returning to Doctor Who for the first time since 1974. However, the return has yet to be confirmed and is one of several rumoured returns for original series monsters. Read more about the claimed return of the Ice Warriors here >>
