The television regulator has renewed the broadcasting licences for the two STV regions in Scotland, UTV in Northern Ireland and ITV’s England, Channel Islands and Wales service.
The former Border Television region, now ITV Border, has had its half-hour local programme restored. People in the Borders would have seen a return to a Border-only news service as of today as all ITV Regional news for them covered stories solely on Southern Scotland and Cumbria, similar to pre-Tyne Tees merger in February 2009.
