In this issue its all about the look as Big Brother’s Bit On The Side presenter Emma Willis’ gets a touch of hair colour, The Bachelor has a roller of a time, Downton Abbey is causing a fashion craze, George Clooney and Kelly Brook would make good housemates apparently, the BBC’s gone to the bank, EastEnders complaints and a little more beside.
Bit of Colour on the Side
Emma Willis unleashed her passionate side and swapped her sleek, glossy brunette bob for an intense, vibrant red shade, say Schwarzkopf. But they would, as they’re behind the look…
“I’m loving my new look! I’ve been wanting to change my hair colour to something more vibrant for some time. This LIVE Color XXL shade is perfect for my skin tone and easy to do at home.” Said Emma, not in a plug for the product at all of course.
For those who hadn’t noticed, LIVE Color XXL is the main TV sponsor of Channel 5’s Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother’s Bit on The Side. As part of the sponsorship deal products by the company have been placed in the Big Brother house generating a spate of colour creativity with the hairdos. That’ll explain Scott’s bizarre moptop then…
It’s all in Goodger Taste
Ever since, famous for something that we’ve not quite discovered yet, Lauren Goodger was spotted in Sleep-In rollers earlier this year they’ve been popping up all over the place – other lesser copies are of course available – but it seems the original’s are still the choice for those who want curls while luring Channel 5’s bachelor Spencer Matthews of Made In Chelsea fame.
“She is the stunning Holly Willoughby look-a-like fighting off 23 other hopefuls all trying to win the heart of Spencer Matthews and we knew she was one to watch when we saw her spotted in episode one wearing her Sleep-In Rollers!” Say, er, Sleep-In Rollers
For those who haven’t seen this massive hair care items they are described as revolutionary velcro rollers that you can actually sleep in are designed to flatten like a sponge when you lie down, guaranteeing a great night’s sleep and that you wake to perfect, volumized hair!
“Obvously Brandy ensured that she looked a million dollars with perfect bouncy hair for her first date with Spencer on episode one of The Bachelor last week! We can’t wait to see how things progress with Brandy and Spencer and if the Sleep-In Rollers craze spreads through The Bachelor pad!” Sleep-In excitedly add.
As for Lauren Goodger, apparently her new fake tan is going down a storm with her fans, or as we call them, Oompa loompas.
Housemates Make a Pretty Home
A recent survey has found that nearly one in four men would like to share their home with glamour model Kelly Brook and most women put Hollywood hunks George Clooney and Jonny Depp joint top of their preferred house mate list.
The research of 500 homeowners by Express Bi-Folding Doors shows we’re not totally image over substance as comedian Michael McIntyre came joint second with David Beckham beating Brad Pitt by a large majority, who only came seventh in a list of ten.
Glamorous Helen Mirren beat sexy singers Beyonce and Rihanna to come forth in the ‘top housemate’ list. So no one wants to live with a star of TOWIE or Geordie Shore. Goodness, I can’t think why…
Dress Back In Time
Apparently period drama Downton Abbey is making us Brits ‘step back in time’ – without a touch of Kylie – as we’re buying up vintage clothing and accessories to lord it up in our own little manors.
According to Alibaba.com, the online marketplace for small businesses, its website has seen a dramatic year on year increase of 273 per cent* in global online searches for vintage dressses, 136 per cent rise in elbow-length gloves and 190 per cent uptick in sequin headbands.
The television drama series centres on an aristocratic British family during the period of the First World War, and it is regularly watched by millions of viewers in over 100 countries around the world. The programme showcases the Best of British fashion a hundred years ago, leading to huge interest in the show’s wardrobe and boosting the vintage clothing industry.
Alibaba.com’s website has also reported a rise in global searches for men’s accessories and clothing with a staggering 617 per cent increase in online searches for top hats and a 427 per cent rise in cravats. Morning suits were also an increasingly popular garment, with a growth of 67 per cent in searches compared to last year.
Molly Morgan, Senior Manager, International Corporate Affairs, Alibaba.com EMEA, says “Period drama clothing and accessories are in fashion, and it is apparently due to a combination of the Royal Wedding, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the very popular Downton Abbey series. We’re even seeing trends of Downton Abbey parties popping up around the world, creating consumer interest and extra sales for small businesses in the vintage clothing industry.”
Seems everyone wants to go Downton. Sounds like a good idea for a Petula Clarke song, don’t you think…
- The Dallas cliffhanger is apparently ‘a jaw dropper’. Patrick Duffy, who plays Bobby Ewing, thinks we’ll all be left in suspense by the end of 2012 finale from TNT. Well I think it’s pretty safe to say Miss Ellie won’t be discovered in a shower.
- EastEnders has been condemned after it aired a controversial storyline in which bipolar sufferer Jean Slater was made to seem like like she was barmy. Compared to the rest of the residents she’s the sanest one in Walford even during her more erratic moments.
“We always treat all of our characters as individuals and there is no suggestion that all of Jean’s characteristics are linked to her condition.” A BBC spokesperson told The Sun. I wonder what condition Ben ‘Pob’ Mitchell is suffering from, apart from woodworm…
- The BBC are also under fire for their latest Olympics trailer. Apparently the corporation has seemingly ‘copied’ the animated format of the Lloyds TSB adverts which feature miniature models of people and animals.
The promotion has provoked a number of comments all quick to note the similarities to the banking advert. Actually they don’t look very much alike at all, and it seems they’re only similar by being ‘cartoon’s.’ Still it gives the Daily Mail something to moan about other than porn.
Fair’s Fair for Olympic hopeful Louise Hazel
Heptathlete Louise Hazel, is supporting Fairtrade food being available at the Olympic Games. Millions of visitors will be served Fairtrade certified tea, coffee, chocolate, sugar, bananas, wine and oranges across all locations, helping to support farmers, workers and their communities in developing countries.
“The decision to serve Fairtrade food is part of the Food Vision report, which sets the standards for catering at the event, during which around 14 million meals will be served. The Fairtrade Foundation is a member of Sustain, an alliance of NGOs and not-for-profit organisations which has been advocating that the 2012 Games food promotes health and sustainability, wins new business for sustainable producers, and creates an important food legacy.” A spokesman for Fair Trade said.
Anyone for a Olympic park McDonalds?
Did you hear about The Only Way Is Essex Star that got an AM radio?
…It took her a month to realise she could listen to it in the evenings.
