Channel 4 star and comedian Alan Carr is celebrating Pride with a showbiz panel show.
Alan Carr will be joined by Gok Wan, Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts, TOWIE’s Charlie King and activist and journalist Paris Lees for a Comic Relief Facebook presentation later today. The showbiz names are coming together with an audience of young people from across the UK to chat all things LGBT+.
The conversation will cover a range of topics from prejudice, media representation, to hopes for the future, and will offer a unique glimpse into a community of voices that often go unheard. Carr presents Loud and Proud which has been put together by Comic Relief, Facebook and Pride in London. The collaboration sees young LGBT+ people from across the UK come together to talk openly about some of the most pressing issues faced by their community.
The Pride in London Festival began last month and runs until Sunday 9th July 2017. The festival celebrates all aspects of the LGBT+ community. In 2016 an estimated 1 million people came to Pride in London and over 20,000 people joined the annual Parade, which is the city’s biggest one-day event and one of the world’s biggest LGBT+ celebrations.
This year’s Parade takes place on Saturday, 8th July, alongside entertainment and campaigning in Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and across Soho. Since 2014, Pride in London has also mounted social media, PR and advertising campaigns bringing the Pride campaign for LGBT+ equality to massive audiences. This year’s campaign theme of #LoveHappensHere will highlight how love conquers hate.
Pride in London is organised by London LGBT+ Community Pride, a Community Interest Company run entirely by volunteers. The Board of Pride in London is advised by an independent Community Advisory Board.
