The celebrity version of Big Brother is to launch next month.
“Our celebrities will take a break from their hectic schedules for a stay in the country’s top celeb retreat – the Celebrity Big Brother house. Here they can let down their guard and unwind away from the paparazzi. It’s sure to be holiday heaven for some celebrities and a holiday from hell for others.” – Channel 5
While the regular version of Big Brother has been struggling in the ratings – seemingly no match for ITV2’s reality romance series Love Island – the Celeb version of Big Brother is always a guaranteed viewer hit.
The summer 2017 series of Celebrity Big Brother will launch on Tuesday 1st August, 9pm on Channel 5. The broadcaster has announced that this summer, their signed up celebrities will reside in a revamped house as the Elstree Studios based structure undergoes a complete redesign ready for its new star guests. It will become a high end retreat inspired by celeb hotel hang-outs.
“But while the celebs kick back and let their hair down, Big Brother never takes a day off – after all, he wants to ensure that the celebrities will have an experience that they will never forget!” – Channel 5
Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit On the Side will return weeknights with Rylan Clark-Neal. Joining him will be a variety of celebrity panellists, talking heads and an audience of CBB fans to debate hot topics, reveal exclusives and go behind the scenes of the main show. While some have suggested Channel 5 is losing interest in Big Brother, the Elstree Studios recently announced that the network has invested in expanding the production at the Borehamwood complex with two more stages and a re-vamped auditorium
The home of Big Brother is also expanding. The 90-year-old studio centre has revealed plans to increase overall production space at the site. Elstree Studios are home to other productions such as Strictly Come Dancing, The Chase and Grantchester as well as being the base for many big screen movies.
