Bloomberg Media Distribution Partners with Merca2 to Deliver while Bloomberg Media Studios partners with Facebook.

“As the leading global business and financial media company, we are excited to partner with Merca2 in Spain to bring our award-winning journalism and relevant content to business decision makers in the region. Our partnership with Merca2 is an important part of our strategy to extend our reach to the growing Spanish-speaking business community around the world.” – Josh Rucci, GM & Global Head of Bloomberg Media Distribution

In the first of two announcements from the company, Bloomberg Media Distribution has announced a partnership with Merca2.es, Spain’s digital news site focused on the economy, business and technology world. Merca2.es has been renamed “Merca2 con Bloomberg,” featuring Bloomberg’s relevant and regional Spanish language news, videos, and data alongside Merca2’s editorial coverage. The new site offers the Spanish market an exciting and robust financial and business news destination.

The “Merca2 con Bloomberg” site leverages Bloomberg’s growing Spanish language content offering. With 2,700 journalists and analysts in 120 countries, Bloomberg covers key markets across seven time zones and produces 80+ Spanish language stories per day and dozens of Spanish language videos per month.

Launched in November 2016, Merca2.es already has a strong foothold in the marketplace and has been adding readers rapidly at 25 percent month over month. Also this week Bloomberg Media has announced details of a new commercial partnership with Facebook, in support of the platform’s marketing services to small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) across Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The social network giant that has more than 2 billion monthly active users is fast becoming an invaluable lifeline for people starting their own companies, and for established ones looking to scale. The new partnership, Connect Today, created by Bloomberg’s in-house creative team, Bloomberg Media Studios, will run throughout September and October and highlights a number of business success stories across EMEA, as told by the Facebook Business users themselves.

The first series of stories focuses on the shift to mobile media consumption and the growth of video to propel SMNs around the world. The initiative is being led by Ciaran Quilty, Facebook VP for small business in EMEA. Included in the first launch series of interviews is Hiut Denim, the clothes manufacturer based in the small Welsh town of Cardigan, which is using Facebook Business to export hand crafted denim jeans around the world.

There is also the compelling story of Italian restaurant Pescaria that has built an innovative bread and fresh fish concept by leveraging the targeting capabilities on the social network. Another business expanding through Facebook is London-based florist Bloom & Wild, which offers an alternative way of sending flowers.

“Our content partnership with Facebook Business draws upon our storytelling skills and video expertise to provide inspiration to the many would-be entrepreneurs wanting to capture the opportunities presented by today’s technology. Our Connect Today campaign shines the spotlight on real businesses that are scaling fast, and in ways that were simply not possible 10 years ago. Facebook is clearly offering a lifeline for such small and medium-sized businesses, and as technology continues to level the playing field, it has the potential to do so for many more.” – Arif Durrani, EMEA commercial editor at Bloomberg Media Studios
