A rep for returning Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis has played down reports that her reinstatement on the soap opera has caused unrest.
Hollyoaks bosses announced earlier this week that Davis will be reprising her role as Sinead O’Connor – three years after being sacked over her behind-the-scenes conduct.
The actress revealed that she is ‘over the moon’ to be revisiting the character however The Sun notes that her imminent re-joining of the saga hasn’t been welcomed by everyone.
“There’s a couple of the cast who she didn’t get on with that are p****d off that she is coming back. She caused chaos while she was here and the atmosphere of the set has been calmer since she went,” a source apparently told the tabloid
However, responding to the claims, a spokesperson for Davis has said that she will prove her doubters wrong.
“Stephanie has worked hard to get back to a good place and she doesn’t know anything about any of the cast members having these feelings but she will prove them all wrong.” – Steph Davis rep
Davis originally played Sinead between 2010-2015, seeing a doomed marriage to Freddie Roscoe (Charlie Clapham), the death of her baby Katy, and an affair with stepdad Tony (Nick Pickard). Sinead latterly fell pregnant to her gay best friend Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson), leaving the village with their daughter when he couldn’t stop seeing Harry Thompson (Parry Glaspool).
The actress has since hit the headlines for her stormy relationship with Celebrity Big Brother co-star Jeremy McConnell, who is the father of her son Caben. Earlier this year, she admitted to having issues with alcohol after a stint in rehab.
