Comedy fans looking for a laugh this summer will be spoilt for choice, as some of the BBC’s funniest series are returning to BBC iPlayer the corporation have announced.

Every episode of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s celeb-packed Extras will be available to watch as box sets from today (June 8th) while other series unleashed by the beeb on their online streaming service includes recent hits such as Citizen Khan and older popular funnies such as Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.
They will be joined by every episode of cult hit comedy The League of Gentlemen, including the critically acclaimed anniversary specials, and all three series and Christmas specials of Miranda.

All the series will be available to watch as box sets from today with theses new additions joining a host of comedy box sets already available to watch, including Fleabag, This Country, Gavin and Stacey, The Young Offenders, and Famalam, all from BBC Three, the channel without a channel. There’s comedy in that itself, surely.
This week the beeb also made every episode of Doctor Who since the series returned in 2005 available to watch, and brought back previous series of hit drama Our Girl.
For viewers not of a computer or app persuation, UKTV channel’s Gold and Drama are currently airing a wider variety of comedy classics alongside the often repeated shows such as Only Fools and Horses and Last of the Summer Wine. The networks have added classics such as Dad’s Army, Hi De Hi, You Rang ‘Lord and Birds of a Feather to the output.
