Roberts is the ninth celebrity contestant confirmed for this year’s series.

The news was revealed this morning (Friday 17th August) on BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans Breakfast Show.

“I am beyond excited and grateful to be part of the Strictly family! I’m going to put my heart and soul into this new adventure and can’t wait to have fun with the team!” – Ashley Roberts

With the announcement Roberts has strutted her way straight to top spot of Betway’s Strictly Come Dancing 2018 betting at 9/2. The Pussycat Dolls performer has replaced Steps and Strictly rival Faye Tozer as this year’s favourite, with Tozer relegated to second in the betting at 13/2.

Languishing at the bottom of the leading online bookmaker’s pile is English television presenter Stacey Dooley at 16/1, while This Morning’s Dr. Ranj Singh is the 8/1 favourite of this year’s male contestants.

“With her dancing experience and general popularity on both sides of the Atlantic, Ashley Roberts has been installed as our 9/2 favourite to win the series after being announced as Strictly’s ninth star. It looks to be a battle between her and Steps’ Faye Tozer, who is now second in the betting at 13/2, though we think Roberts may just be too hot to handle.” – Betway’s Alan Alger

Roberts is a presenter, musician and actress best known for being a member of one of the biggest girl groups in the world – The Pussycat Dolls. Between 2003-2010, the group notched up record sales of over 54 million and won multiple music awards.

Ashley has since had a successful broadcast career, with regular appearances on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (ITV), judging on Dancing On Ice (ITV) and Let It Shine (BBC One), starring roles in Keith Lemon’s comedy series Coming In America (ITV2) and The Sketch Show (ITV2) and appearances on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! (ITV) and The Jump (Channel 4).
