BBC Bargain Hunt announce 2018 charity special for BBC Children in Need.
Casualty stars Michael French, Sunetra Sarker, Suzanne Packer & Amanda Henderson team up with Pudsey for a Bargain Hunt special in aid of BBC Children in Need.
“Last year’s Bargain Hunt special made a real impact to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK, so we are delighted that there is such an exciting special planned for 2018. It’s fantastic that viewers at home can join in this year and get involved by bidding on some of the amazing lots available. A big thank you to all those taking part, it really will make a difference.” – Tommy Nagra, Director of Content at BBC Children in Need
To support BBC Children in Need’s 2018 Appeal, antiques expert Charlie Ross and the Bargain Hunt team will be leading an auction for the BBC Children in Need Bargain Hunt special, with the hammer coming down on a plethora of lots on Wednesday October 3rd, at Ardingly Antiques and Collector’s Fair.
For this year’s special, stars of the BBC’s long-running medical drama, Casualty, have swapped their stethoscopes and scrubs for Bargain Hunt’s famous fleeces. In red are Sunetra Sarker and Michael French, who played Doctor Zoe Hanna and clinical lead Mr Nick Jordan while sporting the blue garments will be Suzanne Packer and Amanda Henderson aka nurses Tess Bateman and Robyn Miller.
“I was excited to do this special because I’ve grown up watching children in need and feel lucky to be able to help raise any money towards the cause. Also, meeting up with my Casualty friends again after so long outside of the hospital and reminiscing was a real treat!!” – Sunetra Sarker
Both teams are hoping to make plenty of money from their selected auction items; with money raised going on to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. A part of the special, BBC Children in Need funded projects, including Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice in Wales will feature in the show, highlighting the impact money raised makes to projects up and down the UK.
On the 3rd of October 2018, auctioneer Catherine Southon will be wielding the gavel and Bargain Hunt enthusiasts can get involved at home by bidding live online for both team’s selected items. In addition to the lots selected by the Red and Blue teams, bidders will also have the opportunity to bid on a selection of special prizes, including the chance to watch a Wales vs. South Africa Rugby Game with Richard Madley, have afternoon tea with Eric Knowles, enjoy a shopping, coffee and cake experience with Kate Bliss, and much more!
Viewers at home can register for the auction via bbc.co.uk/pudsey. Winning bidders will be notified after the sale ends, with all proceeds going to the Beeb’s children’s charity. Last year Bargain Hunt raised a fantastic £4,027 for BBC Children in Need.
