Mel B spoke to Loose Women about the forthcoming Spice Girls reunion tour, saying they all cried with relief. While ITV announce the group will be on this weekend’s Jonathan Ross Show.
“I wasn’t in a very good space within my marriage. I didn’t feel like I could go on anymore, living this fake world – which was my world, between my marriage, not the girls. So, I kind of said to them, ‘I can’t carry on anymore’. I don’t think anybody knows that publicly. But I don’t mind taking the blame for it because it was actually my fault it ended [the 2007 reunion] and so it’s my fault, I was so determined to get us all get back together, and I’m still determined that it will be all five of us at one point.” – Mel B
Mel, a guest panellist on Loose Women, went on to note how the Two Become One singers reunited.
“We all went round to Geri’s for a cup of tea and it was like, finally we can talk about it. It’s really exciting. When we’re together we don’t like anybody else around us. Whether it’s husbands, kids… we move them all into the other room, so it’s just us four together. So we do a little cuddle and a little ring-a-ring o’ roses. We kind of cried a little bit too – a sign of relief, finally, we’re going to be doing it.”
Asked what ‘Girl Power’ means, she said she believes ‘it still means the same to all of us lot. All we wanted to do was spread the message for women supporting other women – no matter what you look like, no matter what background you come from. Embracing the fact that you’re a woman, especially back then and especially now. Women need other women, women’s support.’
“Us five, we went through something so special together we are going to be bonded forever, forever and ever and ever. Even though Victoria’s not joining us on the tour, she still sends her well wishes and she will be coming along – hopefully, fingers crossed. But yeah, we’re all still there supporting each other still, 25 years later.” – Mel B
While ITV also announced today that the reformed Spice Girls, will appear on The Jonathan Ross Show this weekend in a world TV exclusive. Geri Horner, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm will join the TV host just days after announcing their comeback and will talk all about reuniting, the biggest music comeback of the decade and why Girl Power is back.
Ginger, Baby, Scary and Sporty will also talk about working together again after all this time, and why Victoria Beckham, affectionately known as Posh, will not be a part of their return to music.
“I’m super excited to have the Spice Girls on the show this week. I’ve been a great fan since their first single Wannabe in 1996. I’ve met them all over the years, but it’s a real treat to be able to welcome them back together as a band.” – Jonathan Ross
