Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier will return to UKTV next year.
“The Dave viewers revelled in Jon’s many worries being played out for their pleasure and we can’t wait to give them more of what they want. I am personally looking forward to a second series based solely on Jon’s discomfort.” – Luke Hales, Dave channel director
UKTV Original series Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier will return in 2019 for a second series, with an increased order of a ten-part series, on UKTV’s award-winning comedy channel Dave.
Obsessive worrier and organiser Jon Richardson will return alongside a whole host of comedy guests, as they attempt to analyse, assess and log every single one of Jon’s many, many worries. In series two, Jon’s Worry Index has had a full system upgrade and, to help his analysis, Jon will also undergo some worry based ‘aversion therapy’ at the end of each episode. What a lovely way to congratulate him on a new series.
“I’d like to thank everyone contributing to the continued destruction of the planet and all those who help us to wake up with an overwhelming sense of the futility of everything for the recommissioning of Ultimate Worrier for a second series. Who’d have thought series one would have failed to fix everything. I feel sure we’ll get it this time if we all just believe.” – Jon Richardson
Produced by Talkback the UK comedy production arm of Fremantle, Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier enjoyed an average of 406k viewers per episode for the eight-part series, tripling Dave’s prime-time average and securing the best new series launch since 2016.
The UKTV Original series has seen across the first outing Josh Widdicombe and Suzi Ruffell address worries around the home such as ‘are people sleeping badly?’ ‘Is it possible to be bored?’ and ‘Are people loading their dishwashers incorrectly?’ while Sara Pascoe and Joe Wilkinson joined Jon to address worries to do with the body, such as ‘is Jon’s body the wrong shape?’ ‘Are we going to live forever?’ and ‘Do our faces make a terrible first impression?’
Other episodes in the eight-part first run saw Victoria Coren Mitchell and Rob Beckett pondering ‘Was food better when we were kids?’, Nish Kumar and Desiree Burch looked into ‘What will the next step in human evolution be?’ and Jack Dee with Ivo Graham addressed Jon’s worry of ‘will Jon’s wife replace him with a robot?’.
“We’re delighted to be working with Jon on a bigger, more ambitious second series of Ultimate Worrier. Jon did an incredible job in series one and we can’t wait to bring more of his angst and neuroses to the lucky Dave viewers.” – Jonno Richards, executive producer for Talkback
