“We are delighted that these two commissions are part of the new channel schedule. Both shows will bring fascinating insights for BBC Scotland viewers – one looking at one of the most significant political events in Scottish history, the other going behind the scenes at Scotland’s busiest train station. We welcome the BBC’s commitment to the creative industries sector in Scotland and look forward to continue working with the BBC Scotland commissioning team in 2019.” – David Mortimer, Managing Director of STV Productions
The observational documentary Inside Central Station will take viewers inside the transport hub and meet the people at the heart of Glasgow’s Central Station – the commuters’ transport terminus that’s been part of the city’s lifeblood for 140 years.
The six-episode run takes a look behind the scenes of Scotland’s busiest train station and follows those that work all hours to keep more than 950 trains running a day, carrying more than 32 million passengers a year – while delving into the building’s history with fascinating stories from the past.

The second documentary series is a three-part production entitled Yes/No – Inside The Indyref. This STV programme for BBC Scotland offers a remarkable insight into the opposing campaigns of 2014’s Scottish independence referendum, a monumental event which has continued to influence political discussion across the country.
Major players from both sides give the inside track on the highs and lows of their campaigns to persuade a majority of voters to back them on the historic polling day in September 2014. In candid interviews they lift the lid on where their operations hit the spot or suffered setbacks during the months of impassioned debate and argument.
“Last year STV announced ambitious growth plans to build an independent production company of scale, focusing on developing returning series for terrestrial and SVOD players and serving the growing demand for quality programming from the nations and regions.” – STV
The BBC Scotland channel launches on Sunday 24th February 2019, it will be at the time the third Beeb funded Scottish channel behind BBC One Scotland and BBC Alba (Scotland). STV had previously a dedicated channel for the country with STV2, however restructuring last year saw the service axed in the summer of 2018.
